Elsewhen Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-27

Elsewhen is a menu bar world clock for macOS, designed to be local and private.

Data we collect

None. Elsewhen does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, and no advertising.

Weather (Apple Weather / WeatherKit)

Elsewhen shows each city’s current conditions using Apple Weather (WeatherKit). These requests use fixed, built-in coordinates for the cities you added — never your device location — and include no personal identifiers from Elsewhen. This is the app’s only network communication. Weather data is provided by  Weather; see Apple’s attribution and data sources.

Data stored on your device

Elsewhen stores only your list of time zones (with the labels you choose), whether each is shown in the menu bar and its label style, your working-hours window, and your 12/24-hour preference. This lives in a JSON file inside the app’s sandbox container on your Mac and never leaves your device. Removing the app removes this data.

Permissions

Elsewhen requests no system permissions — no Accessibility, Location, Contacts, Calendars, Camera, or Microphone. Network access is used only for the Apple Weather requests described above. All times are computed on-device from the operating system’s time-zone database.

Children’s privacy

Elsewhen collects no data from anyone, including children.
